A Special Thanksgiving Dinner Doesn't Have to Cost a Fortune

Happy Friday Reader!

Thanksgiving is about gathering around the table, enjoying good food, and making memories with the people we love.

But let's be honest, this year definitely brings some added stress. Putting together a holiday meal can get expensive!

With grocery prices continuing to squeeze family budgets, the traditional Thanksgiving turkey or ham may not be the easiest choice for everyone.

And I want you to know that's okay!

You can still serve a delicious, special meal without spending a fortune on the main dish. Sometimes a smaller roast, a favorite chicken recipe, or another comforting family meal is all you need to make the day feel special.

Still Dreaming of Turkey or Ham?

If turkey or ham is part of what makes Thanksgiving feel like Thanksgiving to your family, I certainly don't want you to give that up!

I've gathered some of my favorite traditional holiday main dishes to help you find one that works for your table.

Thinking Beyond Turkey? These Dinners Are Worth Celebrating!

If you're looking for something a little different this year, I've got you covered! These comforting family favorites can also make wonderful Thanksgiving main dishes.

Chicken: A Smaller, Delicious Holiday Main

A roasted or baked chicken (or even two or three) can be a wonderful alternative to a large turkey, especially for smaller gatherings. Pair chicken with your favorite Thanksgiving sides, and you've got a meal everyone can enjoy.

Pork: Comforting and Perfect for a Family Gathering

Tender, juicy pork loin is a delectable centerpiece for a holiday meal. And pork loin (not tenderloin) is always a much more affordable main dish option.

Other Family Favorites Worth Celebrating

Who says Thanksgiving dinner has to follow a particular menu? A hearty casserole, baked pasta dish, or another family favorite can be just as welcome around your holiday table.

Make Thanksgiving Special Your Way

Here's something I hope you'll remember as you plan your holiday meal: You don't have to cook a traditional Thanksgiving turkey to serve a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Pair a simple roasted chicken or pork roast with mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, and a favorite dessert. Your family still gets all those familiar Thanksgiving flavors without requiring a big, expensive centerpiece.

Whatever you decide to serve this year, don't feel pressured to spend more than your budget allows. A homemade meal made with care is something special, no matter what's in the middle of the table.

You can absolutely make Thanksgiving delicious, memorable, and affordable!

Have a wonderfully blessed week! I hope it's full of easy homemade meals, and I hope someone else does your dishes.
